This is a new take on the body swap trope, and a pretty good one. Wokeness cost it two stars, though. It hit most of the required points. Gun control? In passing, but check. Climate change? Again, check. Gender pronouns? Check. "Diversity"? Check, and more than just a single reference. And then there was the feminism. Being a housewife and stay-at-home mother is very grudgingly acknowledged as a valid life choice. As the story unfolds, though, Celeste (the housewife) is far more criticized for her choices than Wendy (the working mom). Even so, I was able to enjoy the ride. Wokeness aside, it's a silly but enjoyable story. I was reading this on a rainy Sunday and having a grand old time with Celeste and Wendy, until the author felt the need to have a character STATE, not imply, that all cops are bad.This is the paragraph:“Our city cops are constantly in the news for being certified in this or that implicit-bias training, but they still have guns and adrenaline and lifetimes of faulty programming like in any other city.”This is a blanket statement regarding all police officers and it totally turned me off from reading anything else by this author.
